6th Grade Vision Silhouettes
Monday, March 18, 2013 at 9:49AM The 6th graders began the new trimester this past week. As an introduction activity, students reflected on who they are as artists and individuals by creating a piece of artwork that reflects their vision of the world. Students outlined their own silhouette and then worked to add imagery and text to symbolize their vision as artists.

Lenten Reflections
Thursday, March 7, 2013 at 9:43AM The second and third graders have been working to reflect upon what the Lenten season means to Catholics around the world and how they will personally take part in Lent this year. Second grade students used a combination of marker and watercolor paint techniques to depict one thing they will do this Lenten season. Ms. Neme's third grade class collaborated to create a mural about the things we do for ourselves and others during Lent after viewing mural painting by Keith Haring. How will you partake in the Lenten season this year?
"I pray during Lent."
"I help other shovel snow during Lent."
Third Grade Lenten Season Mural

We have been working to identify the light source, direction, and how shadows and forms change with different views. This week students have been hard at work creating their own drawings with shading. Check out a great youtube video below to learn the basics of these techniques.
