We have a busy Spring in our classroom!

Dear Families,

I am excited to tell you all about the upcoming activities we have planned in Kindergarten!  We will be studying the life cycle of a butterfly and observing butterflies in our own classroom habitat!  Our students become scientists and make observations in their butterfly journals.

We will be creating our very own towns in Social Studies.  This week we will learn all about maps and symbols.  The project will allow students to create a town flag, a map of their town, a town name and laws for all people to follow in their town.  Each student will also appoint a mayor for their fictional town.  This is a wonderful project that meets many of our Kindergarten Social Studies Standards.

We will continue to add new words to our Word Wall every week.  Please continue to practice the following words with your child.

a, and, are, come, do , down, for, go, good, he, here, I, like, look, my, me, one, out, see, she, the, two, this, two, they, there, up, we, who, went, where, what, who, you.

Please check back for more exciting Kindergarten news!

Welcome Back !

Dear Families of Room 116,

I hope all of you had a wonderful summer!  I am very excited to meet all of the children in my new Kindergarten class.  This will be my third year teaching at St.  Benedict Prep.  I would like to tell you a little bit about myself.  My name is Mrs. Heidi Meyer.  I graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Elementary Education.  I received my Master's Degree from Chapman University in California.  I have taught several different grades over the course of my ten year teaching career, but really enjoy working with young children.  I am looking forward to an exciting and fun filled year.  I hope to see you all at Kindergarten Orientation on Monday, August 29th!

Take Care,

Mrs. Meyer
